Master Gunnery Sergeant David Dahl is currently serving as the Senior Enlisted Advisor for Headquarters Marine Corps Safety Division. He is a native of Ocala, Fl and graduated from Belleview High School in 2000. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on May 22, 2001, and attended recruit training at Bravo Company, 1st RCT Bn, MCRD Parris Island, SC. Upon completion of the School of Infantry he was assigned the military occupational specialty 0341, Mortarman.
MGySgt Dahl’s operational assignments include 2d Bn, 4th Mar (2001-2005), 3d Bn, 3rd Mar (2007-2009), 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Bn, 2nd Mar Div (2012-2016), 3rd Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team Company, Naval Base Norfolk, VA (2016-2019), and 2d Bn, 6th Mar (2019-2021).
He deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the 31st MEU (2002-2003), in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to Ramadi, Iraq (2004), to Fallujah, Iraq (2007-2008), to Baharia, Iraq (2009), to Romania as a member of the Black Sea Rotational Force (2013-2014), to Marine Security Company, Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (2016), twice to FASTCENT, Naval Base, Bahrain (2016-2017 and 2018), and in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as part of TFSW, Helmand, Afghanistan (2019).
MGySgt Dahl has been a member of Weapons Field Training Bn, MCRD Parris Island, SC (2005-2007), an instructor at The Basic School, MCB Quantico, VA (2010-2012), Battalion Operations Chief at Marine Barracks Washington D.C. (2021-2023), and Depot Operations Chief at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. (2023-2024).
Master Gunnery Sergeant Dahl's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Combat "C" Device and Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), and the Combat Action Ribbon.
MGySgt Dahl has a Bachelor’s Degree in Homeland Security from American Military University and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Political Science.
